TL;DR 2/24/12: Robofish, Sony, J.K. Rowling, Bleach

I think we can all agree that censoring some gamertags on Xbox Live is a good thing. What really sucks is when your actual last name gets censored because it sounds like it might be offensive. Let’s all take a moment to think about Christopher Gooche and his plight. Poor guy.

Come With Me If You Want To Swim

The resemblance is uncanny!

Scientists are up to their old tricks, this time they're using robots to lead fish. They got a school of fish to join up with a fish-bot. The robots could potentially be used to steer schools of fish away from dangerous or polluted areas. They could also be used by fishermen to steer an entire school of fish right into a net.

Heads Up

There's a flame war raging on Sony's forum, so tread carefully.

Sony has scheduled maintenance for March 1st so people aren't going to be able to sign in and people that are already logged in will be automatically logged out. Stay classy, Sony. This time I'm not being sarcastic. Make a note of this, it doesn't happen often.

What's Next?

Man, I would love to... OH! I didn't see you there. I was going to say, "pick her brain." Pervert.

J.K. Rowling has a new book, but it's not for kids. While I would love to see a continuation of Harry Potter, especially if it was with a brand new character after the events of the final book, I hope it's something brand new. The title, plot details, and publication date will be announced later this year.

Cautiously Optimistic

I seriously want to see this stuff in live action.

Warner Brothers and VIZ are teaming up to make an American live-action Bleach movie. What do you want to bet it'll be white-washed to hell and back? Hopefully I'm completely surprised and they make a great movie that's worthy of the massive pile of money that people will throw at it.

That's it for this week. I'm @kelknaughty on Twitter if you have anything you want to say or a website you think I need to keep an eye on. I'll be back, bright and early on Monday.

TL;DR 11/16/11: Akira, The White House, Cell Phone Batteries, DC Universe Online

TL;DR 11/16/11: Akira, The White House, Cell Phone Batteries, DC Universe Online

I’m noticing you didn’t write today’s TL;DR. Fine. I’ll do it. I thought maybe you’d want to do me a favor, but apparently we’re not as close as I thought. Anyway, enough of that. EA is still suffering from ban fever after the Battlefield 3 fiasco and it’s getting worse. Instead of just taking care of cheaters, they’re now COMPLETELY banning people from the forums and the game. Some people have even been completely banned from their Origin accounts. Say you get in trouble in Battlefield and that leads to a ban. That means all of your other games are on lockdown, whether or not they’re multiplayer. I smell a sitcom!

"Kei, Kei... I know! Let's cast that white chick from those shitty vampire movies." - I'm assuming this is how the conversation went.

You know what really bothers me about Hollywood? Say there’s an older movie and there’s a character by the name of… let’s say Kei. In this instance we’ll say she’s Japanese in the original. For that matter, let’s say all of the characters are Japanese in the original, it’s set in Japan, and a LOT of people love the original. Now let’s say that Hollywood decides to cast Kristen Stewart as Kei in a remake. I know what you’re thinking, “Nobody’s that dumb, right?” Hollywood. Is. That. Dumb. When Akira comes out, I don’t want to hear anything about it. I’ll laugh my ass off if they don’t change the character’s names and they still call it Akira. I know Akira, and this white-washed piece of shit is no Akira.

The less I have to see this damn thing the better.

Admit it, you’d give your left nut/ovary for a cellphone battery that stayed charged for 10 times longer and charged 10 times faster. In 3 to 5 years you could have such a battery in your phone thanks to some brilliant engineers. They came up with a much more effective way to charge and increase charge capacity for Lithium Ion batteries. Team this up with the awesome new phones coming out that are quickly approaching desktop computer specs and the future is looking pretty sweet for nerds.

Now we know what happens when somebody shoots at the White House. The Secret Service gets pissed. It may have just been some random gunfight and the bullets may have just happened to hit the White House, but I do know they have a suspect, he has an arrest record in 3 states, and it’s only a matter of time before the Secret Service delivers a presidential ass-beating.

Mediocrity is magic. If you don't get the reference, I envy you.

And to round things out today DC Universe Online is adding content. The Deadly Doublecross is going to be available to all players at no charge. It adds on some new story and Kryptonian gear. Hopefully they’ll periodically add more free content to pull in new players because the game isn’t half bad. It doesn’t stand a chance when The Old Republic comes out, but it’s a solid game to chill out and play now that there are tons of people to play with.

Is it too much to ask that one day I only have good news? I’m getting tired of all this up and down. One day I just want to be able to say, “Here’s some good news. Oh, here’s some better news.” And just keep going like that. Maybe all will be right with the world tomorrow.
