TL;DR 3/27/12: Playstation Network, Flying Bird Man, Mass Effect 3, Ghost Ship

TL;DR 3/27/12: Playstation Network, Flying Bird Man, Mass Effect 3, Ghost Ship

Okay, you may have noticed that I missed a couple of TL;DR’s. That’s because over the weekend I went to St. Louis for the Final Fantasy: Distant Worlds Symphony. It was amazing and I recommend you go to one if you ever have the chance. Anyway, let’s get this thing started. It looks like researchers at MIT have discovered that memories are stored in specific neurons and can be triggered at will. Take that knowledge and throw a little technology at it and we may eventually be able to sell memories. I can’t wait to blurt out, “I know Kung-Fu,” without it being a joke.

Everybody Slow Clap

I really don't have the proper words to make fun of this guy as hard as I should.

What would be your brilliant scheme to hide out if you were an AWOL soldier? Would you steal a billionaire’s identity and use his debit card to pay your bills? No, huh? You sure? Yeah, you’re right. That does sound like it could draw some attention. Too bad nobody told Brandon Lee Price that.

Not Today

It would've been cool to see what amazing creations would have popped up.

Two PSP titles have been pulled from the Playstation Network because they can be used to in a Vita exploit. The exploit allows homebrew programming to run on a Vita in PSP mode. Hot Shots Tennis and MotorStorm Arctic Rift are going to be unavailable until they figure out a fix. Either that or the games are gone for good.

Psych!

The only Birdman I'll ever need.

The flying bird man turned out to be a hoax. It was the work of a Dutch CGI artist who’s pretty good at his craft. That’s a shame because it would have been awesome.

Ahhhh… My Brain

Now with 30% less effect.

Ok, if you haven’t been paying attention lately, I’ll bring you up to speed. A lot of people were unhappy with the ending of Mass Effect 3 so they took to the internet and now it’s going to be changed. The really bad thing is that one group was using Child’s Play to get attention for their cause. People were unsure who they were actually donating to, so it caused a huge mess. I miss the days when people finished a game, discussed it for a while, then moved on. Now we’ve got a world full of people with an unwarranted sense of entitlement that gripe until they get their way. Shame on you, Bioware, for giving in to them.

Surprise!

Is that a dead Conehead?

A ghost ship that was lost since the tsunami in Japan was spotted about 100 miles off the coast of Canada. I think it should be renamed Harbinger. Why? Because as early as this October the west coast could start seeing debris from the disaster.

I’ve been playing Armored Core V quite a bit and I think for the first time ever I’m going to end up getting a couple months of Gold for my Xbox Live account so I can do some multiplayer action on it. What have I become? If you have a copy and want to play send me your gamertag in the comments or on Twitter, @kelknaughty.

TL;DR 11/22/11: Tear Gas, Facebook, Chrono Trigger, Kinect

TL;DR 11/22/11: Tear Gas, Facebook, Chrono Trigger, Kinect

Alright, let’s dive right in. Terry Gilliam has had some serious bad luck over the years with his dream project. “The Man Who Killed Don Quixote” originally began filming waaaaayyy back in 2000. After a sudden flood and injuries it was cancelled. Then there were financial issues when they tried again. Now he’s back at it trying to get started again. After all that trouble I think he deserves a break.

I love it when there are politicians from places other than 'Murricka that do crazy things.

You know who else deserves a break? The South Korean Parliament after one of the politicians present set off a tear gas canister. This is too good to have been made up. There was a vote on a free trade agreement with the US that passed and one of the people that didn’t think it was a good idea decided to let everybody know just how unhappy he was. My favorite part is that everybody just sat back down to get back to business with handkerchiefs to cover their faces.

'Nuff said.

I don’t know if you’ve noticed, but I have. Facebook has been steadily adding more advertisements and trying to sneak them into places you don’t ignore. At least the ticker that shows my friends’ activity is safe. Or not. There’s a plan in the works to inject ads into the ticker. Looks like they’ve added one more spot on the screen to the list of things that I ignore. I’d have to estimate that I already don’t even pay attention to 60% of what’s on the screen when I’m on Facebook. I wonder how high that number will get before I stop checking it.

TechCrunch

At least they're not trying to dress it up and sell it as a new game. I'm looking at you, every Zelda game since Ocarina.

I have some good news for people that have an iPhone/Pod that want to play Chrono Trigger. It’s coming to the app store. There will be updated touch controls but it’s basically just another port. There’s not much more I can say about it that hasn’t been said before

"So, they won't cook anything, but they won't turn on my TV? Ok, internet it is." - God of Electronics assigning uses to different frequencies

An electronics maker from Japan has announced that they’ve created a wireless device that transmits data at 1.5 gigabits/second, the fastest speed ever recorded. They expect to be able to reach speeds up to 30 gigabits/second using similar technology. I have only one thing to say about this news… FUCKIN’ A!

TechCrunch

The first thing that comes to mind for people over the age of 40 when they hear the word dashboard.

We all know that, for some people, Kinect is a pretty big deal. Apparently Microsoft decided to do yet another overhaul to the 360′s dashboard to enable Kinect navigation. I have but one question for you, Microsoft… Why? I’ll be so glad when this fixation with making everything have some kind of motion control is a thing of the past. Sony’s kind of figured it out. At first it seemed like every PS3 game had some kind of motion control gimmick. Now I can’t think of any new games that require some kind of retarded controller flailing to accomplish something in game. At most it’ll be an optional thing if you want to play it using Move. Good on you, Sony.

Inside Gaming Daily

Well that’s pretty much it for today. If I don’t have another TL;DR posted tomorrow, I’ll be back on Monday with a new hatred for the internet, because I’ll have a HUGE backlog of stories to sift through.
