Prediction Time! Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City vs. Resident Evil 6

Predictive Pros:  Zombie killing at its Finest.

Predictive Cons: You’ll be Homeless soon since your using all your rent money on new games! (Same can be applied to your relationships. Good luck having no Social life. Going to the mall in Raccoon city doesn’t count.)

Predictive Verdict: I’m predicting they’re both going to be amazing games. I see Operation: Raccoon City actually not doing as well as RE6, but I think it will only be due to consumer confusion not due to the actual content in the game.

Predicted Review: Very rarely do companies put out games that compete with their own franchise; this is one of those times. Both games are still under wraps but there have been some gooey nuggets of goodness leaked out. “Operation” is a “What if” game from everything that’s been leaked. You get to play as Umbrella agents and kill all the main story characters from Resident Evil. There’s also Multiplayer such as a 4v4vZombies (2 teams that fight each other while also fighting waves of zombies which sounds almost good enough to buy the game!) Also there’s talk of a 6 player Coop and 8 player Multiplayer!

Resident Evil 6 is going to be the Expendables of Resident Evils! The story seems that it might rotate around 3 2-man squads, Chris, Leon, 2 girls and an unknown guy that might be in the RE comics. Ten years after Raccoon City, the President gets infected and then all Hell breaks loose! (If you haven’t seen the Teaser for it, then you probably should. It’s going to be super tight!) There will be a Mercenaries Mode like the other Resident Evils and the normal 2 player coop, although there was a leak, that was later undone. That said, 6 player coop and 8 player multiplayer -which is the same as “Operation” so no idea if it was undone because it was linked to the wrong game, but it does seem they’re not ready for anyone to know yet.

Gameplay: Ton of Third person Zombie Killing in both games. (If you haven’t read my review of RE5, then now would be a good time!)

Audio: Lots of screaming and crooning zombies. The crooning zombies may have just part of a weird dream that I had, but Chris Redfield was there too… like usual. Compression shirt!

Video: There will be Blood! But no Daniel-day Lewis.

Final Thoughts: Overall If you only have to pick one game I think you’re going to be happy. There actually is a good bit of time between these games, March 20th –Nov 2nd. You’ll also be able to download the demo for RE6 on July 3rd if you purchased Dragon’s dogma, two months earlier than everyone else! It’s a gift for loving Capcom!

Conclusion: It’s going to be a GREAT year for Capcom but a horrible year for Zombies. You’re also going to ruin your best pair of shoes… dang zombie brains!
